West Ham’s Twitter account trolls Jose Mourinho with “19th century football” photoshop

When Jose “I’ll park the bus whenever I want” Mourinho described West Ham’s performance in last season’s 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge last season as “19th century football,” it made people’s heads cave in under the weight of the hypocrisy.

“A football match is about two teams playing and this match was only one team playing and another team not playing,” Mourinho said back in January.

“I told Big Sam [Allardyce] and I repeat my words: they need points and, because they need points, to come here and play the way they did, is it acceptable? Maybe, yes.

“I cannot be too critical, because if I was in his position I don’t know if I would do the same. Maybe.

“At the same time I told him also this is not Premier League, this is not the best league in the world, this is football from the 19th century.”

Though Mourinho described these comments as “stupid, silly words” when asked about them ahead of West Ham’s Boxing Day return to the Bridge, the east London club’s Twitter account decided to have a little fun with the now infamous phrase by posting a photoshopped picture of Sam Allardyce driving a horse-drawn carriage. The caption read “The West Ham United team coach (and horse) has arrived @ChelseaFC for today’s game #19thcenturyfootball.”

As clever as this was, Big Sam will think that calling him a horse on the club’s official Twitter account is a bit rude.
