Portrait of crying Gerard Pique, other Barca art to be auctioned off for charity

Have you ever dreamed of hanging a portrait of a crying Gerard Pique in your home? Of course you have. And now’s your chance to make that strange dream a reality. On February 12, Sotheby’s in London will auction off 18 works — some related to Barcelona and others not — to support the FC Barcelona Foundation and UNICEF. One of those works is the portrait of Pique as Apollo Belvedere by Francesco Vezzoli pictured above.

And if you’re going to buy a Pique portrait, you of course must have the Shakira portrait by Yan Pei-Ming to go with it.

But it’s not all Pique and Shakira, sadly. There’s also the wonderful “Lionel Messi and a universe of flowers” by Takashi Murakami…

And Damien Hirst’s Messi spin painting…

Then, naturally, there is also a piece titled “Doha Lounge Chair” by Marc Newson, which, surprisingly, isn’t a migrant worker on all fours…

Xavi will probably buy all of these.

Thank you for putting up references of Migrant Workers in Qatar as much as you can. I really appreciate you using your blog’s popularity to spread and convey the message. There was some initial reaction about it but it seems to have died down now.
Hopefully spreading the conditions there might achieve something. 🙁
