Aston Villa fans point out goal with large arrows, Villa finally score

Aston Villa’s long running goal drought reached the point where a group of fans brought arrow signs to Saturday’s match against Chelsea in order to point out the goal. And it seemed to work since Villa ended their 659-minute dry spell when Jores Okore equalized early in the second half.

The arrow signs are a proven remedy to goal droughts, though. In 2012, fans of German fourth-tier club Magdeburg did the same thing (but on a larger scale) in the hopes of ending a comparatively brief five-match streak.

They did end up scoring in that match, but still lost 2-1.

Coincidentally, Branislav Ivanovic put Chelsea up 2-1 on Villa 18 minutes after their goal.
