Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s new tattoos actually part of campaign against world hunger

When Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in PSG’s 2-2 draw against Caen on Saturday, he solemnly removed his shirt to reveal that his body appeared to be covered in more tattoos than usual. The new body art was all names and the sheer amount of them prompted jokes from some viewers. Others, meanwhile, scolded him for getting a yellow card for the seemingly frivolous offense, since it earned him a suspension from PSG’s upcoming match against Monaco for yellow card accumulation. But it turns out Zlatan did this for a good and selfless cause.

The demonstration was a part of the World Food Programme’s “805 million names” campaign and on Sunday, they released a video in which Zlatan explains himself.

“Wherever I go people recognize me, call my name, cheer for me. But there are names no one cares to remember. That no one cheers for: the 805 million people suffering from hunger in the world today. I have supporters all over the world. From now on I want this support to go to the people who really need it. So whenever you hear my name, you will think of their names. Whenever you see me, you will see them”, Zlatan says in the video.
