Kaka scores late equalizer for 10-man Orlando City in first MLS game

With the divine intervention of Jeb Brovsky’s midsection, Orlando City captain Kaka was credited with his first MLS goal in added time to give his side a 1-1 draw with fellow newcomers New York City FC. Mix Diskerud opened the scoring for the visitors, curling in a shot from the edge of the box in the 76th minute off a pass from David Villa.

Then, after three Orlando players were booked for simulation over the first 78 minutes, defender Aurelien Collin earned the club’s first MLS red card with a nasty challenge on Villa in the 83rd minute.

With the home side reduced to 10 men, it seemed the 62,510 in attendance were going to leave disappointed. But Kaka salvaged the day, knocking a free kick off of Brovsky that would trickle into the empty side of the net as NYCFC goalkeeper Josh Saunders watched from his knees.

And when it went in, everyone in the stadium was like…

I don’t know if you saw it, but Saunders took a beating that game. He had his head slammed into the post while making a nice save, and he hit it so hard you could hear it over the crowd. And then he got crushed by Rivas later on, and opened up the giant knot on the side of his head.

Good game though, much more exciting than i expected from two brand new teams.
