Barcelona make Xavi cry some more with special tribute event

Barcelona’s determination to drain all the tears from Xavi’s body continued on Wednesday with a special tribute event. Xavi’s friends, teammates, and other Barcelona officials were all present as Andres Iniesta said a few words to begin his long-time teammate’s half hour of crying. A couple of touching videos were also shown and, finally, Xavi gave an extended farewell speech as he prepares to play his last match for Barca (Saturday’s Champions League final) before joining Qatari side Al Sadd.

Once that concluded, Xavi walked out onto the pitch at the Camp Nou, where all of the 24 trophies he’s won with the club (so far) were waiting for him. And as he first laid eyes on the display, even he seemed impressed by the haul.

If Real Madrid get a Christmas card from Xavi this year, it’s probably going to feature this picture.

I’m sure they could have found another less sad way to collect Xavi’s tears for keeping the pitch just slick enough though
