Mario Balotelli tried to score with his hand

Mario Balotelli’s career has well and truly stalled out, pushing him to attempt desperate measures to score a single goal.

After scoring one goal in 16 league matches last season with Liverpool, Balotelli has just one goal in 16 league appearances for Milan this season, yet he was given a rare start against Juventus, of all clubs. He very nearly curled in a free kick in the 14th minute, but Gigi Buffon worked his magic to get a hand on it and keep it out. So by the time the 51st minute rolled around, Mario was so desperate for a goal that he tried to push the ball into the net with his outstretched hand.

Unlike Maradona, Balotelli does not have the hand of god, though. He was shown a yellow card for his blatant handling of the ball and came off in the 77th minute as Juve beat Milan 2-1.

Earlier in the week, Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani commented on whether the club will try to make his loan from Liverpool permanent, saying “I’ve told him that based on what he’s shown, he doesn’t deserve to stay.”

It seems like ever since the tales of Balotelli’s off-field antics dried up, so did his form. Maybe he needs to let his friends blow up his bathroom again to jump start his career.
