Dinamo Bucharest fans sabotage Steaua Bucharest choreography

As if losing 5-0 to Man City in a Champions League qualifying match where Kun Aguero missed two penalties and still had a hat trick wasn’t bad enough, Steaua Bucharest also suffered a prank from local rivals Dinamo Bucharest.

From the Guardian:

With anticipation high ahead of the visit of Pep Guardiola’s side, Steaua owner Gigi Becali had commissioned a “tifo” at the Arena Nationala in Bucharest to mark 30 years since their victory in the 1986 European Cup final. However, when the huge mosaic was unveiled just before kick off, it was revealed to say “Doar Dinamo Bucuresti” (Only Dinamo Bucharest).

According to reports in Romania, the display had been organised by a group of Dinamo fans who posed as professionals offering to help prepare the display before the match.

When the message became clear to everyone in the stadium not holding up the cards, whistles rang out as an expression of disproval that must have been terribly confusing to the people who thought they were paying homage to their beloved club.

As if all of that wasn’t bad enough, Steaua must next travel to Manchester for what is essentially a meaningless second leg. They might try to finish third in the Romanian Liga I this season just so they can avoid Champions League qualifying process.
