Michael Orozco opened up a giant blood pit on Chucky Lozano’s ankle

Dirty Tackle of the Day

In just the 12th minute of Friday night’s Liga MX match between Tijuana and Pachuca, U.S. international Michael Orozco planted his boot in the ankle of 21-year-old Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, opening up a horrifying wound.

With Celta Vigo scouts reportedly in the stands to see him, Lozano had to be stretchered off and Orozco was shown a yellow card for the challenge before being substituted at halftime. Pachuca went on to win 3–2.

Pachuca’s official Twitter account shared a close-up of Lozano’s ankle and OH MY GOD DO NOT LOOK AT THIS.

I warned you.

This kid is the next Joey Barton

A next-level Dirty Tackle of the Day

Alright, before I say anything, just watch this video:

WTF, kid?!?! Let’s break the pure insanity of this video.

  1. This isn’t even a match—it’s just three kids, each with their own ball, running what appears to be some sort of informal race.
  2. The kid on the far right decides to stop running, turn around, and KICK THE HOLY HELL out of the kid running innocently beside/behind him.
  3. The kid who did the kicking was winning the race when he decided to stop and commit an unprovoked assault.
  4. Is this the Cobra Kai Football Camp? What are they teaching these kids here? Did the kid in the middle owe the other one money? Did he say whatever Marco Materazzi said to Zidane in the World Cup final?
  5. I am terrified of this child.

Atalanta player takes out his son with two-footed tackle

Dirty Tackle of the Day

You don’t become a pro footballer by picking and choosing when you play hard and Atalanta striker Papu Gomez’s son learned this lesson the hard way. While playing with his father on the beach during the winter break, the younger Gomez was on the receiving end of a rather nasty two-footed challenge…which the perpetrator than posted on Instagram himself.

And that’s the story of how Papu Gomez’s son decided he never wants to play football with his father ever again.

18-year-old referee sucker punched for calling a penalty

A particularly vicious Dirty Tackle of the Day

When a referee awards a penalty, there’s little that can be done to change their mind. One thing that definitely won’t work: running up and punching them in the face. In fact, this is guaranteed to make the situation infinitely worse. And yet, that’s what one player in a Spanish regional league match did.

Making the situation even more sickening is the fact that the referee who was assaulted is just 18 years old, according to Cadena Ser.

This is the type of act that deserves a lifetime ban and criminal charges. It remains unclear if that will happen in this case, but at the very least it serves another example of why I’d carry a taser if I was a ref.

Adrian kicks Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the knee, Zlatan gets his revenge with goals

Dirty Tackle of the Day

If there was a giant hornet’s nest coming straight for you at 100 mph, would you stick your foot in it? No. If you are a sane person, you would get out of its way and be thankful that you narrowly avoided disaster.

Well, West Ham goalkeeper Adrian is not a sane person. With the giant hornet’s nest that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming at him, he planted his studs right in Zlatan’s kneecap like a person who does not value their life whatsoever.

Zlatan still scored, because of course he did, and Adrian was lucky not to get sent off—or seriously injure Zlatan.

But did Zlatan grind Adrian into a fine powder and sprinkle him atop a latte right then and there? No. While Zlatan is most definitely a vengeful god, he is also a patient one. He waits for the right moment to strike in order to inflict maximum devastation. This is what he did to Adrian.

With Man United up 3–1 deep into injury time, Zlatan scored his second goal of the night, then stood over Adrian’s downed carcass with his arms held aloft, reveling in the crowd’s adulation that stung Adrian all over like a thousand hornets.

And that, my friends is why you never plant your foot in Zlatan’s knee.

David Luiz tackles unsuspecting Chelsea TV reporter

Dirty Tackle of the Day

He’s got that look in his eye…

Never let David Luiz lurk behind you. This is something everyone should know by now, but one Chelsea TV presenter didn’t learn until he got a surprise from a stone-faced Luiz while going about his business at the club’s Cobham training complex.

Be sure you have the sound on when you watch, because the noise that escapes his body as it happens is the best part.

After this, he affixed a rearview mirror to the camera so he never has to suffer this terror (or make that noise) again.

Rochdale player gets one of the longest bans in Football League history for elbowing opponent

Dirty Tackle of the Day

He also elbows people in the head when he wants (Rochdale AFC)

Rochdale striker Calvin Andrew has been given a 12-match ban—one of the longest in Football League history—for elbowing an opponent during his side’s 1–0 win over Oldham in League One. The incident occurred away from the ball and was not seen by the officials.

According to The FA, “the standard punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply would be clearly insufficient,” so Andrew was given far more than the usual three-match ban for violent conduct.

Andrew’s ban matches Joey Barton’s for kicking Sergio Aguero in 2012. Only Eric Cantona’s nine-month ban for kicking a Crystal Palace fan and Rio Ferdinand’s eight-month ban for missing a drug test have been longer.

DTotD: Trinidad & Tobago player elbows opponent in face twice, fakes own injury

If there’s one thing German manager Norbert Meier taught us, it’s that a very unsportsmanlike act of violence should be complemented by a hilariously bad attempt at getting your victim in trouble.

In the 70th minute of Panama’s 1-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship on Sunday evening, T&T’s Akeem Humphrey managed the rare feat of elbowing an opponent twice during the same move—one with each elbow.

Humphrey topped this impressive arcade game-style combo by falling to the floor clutching his own face in pretend agony, in a vain attempt to deflect attention from his own shocking antics.

Thankfully, the referee didn’t buy what Humphrey was selling and gave him a straight red card, leaving the twin island nation with nine men on the field due to an earlier red card.
