Iker Casillas is the only one who didn’t get a thank you letter from Vicente Del Bosque

Long-time Spain goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas was not happy about being benched in favor of the younger David De Gea at Euro 2016. So unhappy, in fact, that he wasn’t very nice to his coaches, including manager Vicente Del Bosque, with whom he also worked at Real Madrid for four years. As a result, the outgoing Del Bosque says he has written thank you letters to all his players —except Casillas — in what has to be the most passive aggressive football feud of all time.

Little is going Iker Casillas’ way these days — from Spain’s 2014 World Cup embarrassment to his Real Madrid exit to his current form at Porto — and that has now extended to the virtual world of FIFA 16.

Casillas was so disturbed by a screenshot from the video game that had him announcing his retirement in 2018 at the age of 36 that he shared it on Instagram and told EA Sports “too soon” and “not yet” with a bunch of thumbs down emojis to really drive his point home. Anyway, that rumbling you hear is David De Gea’s groan upon seeing this Instagram post and realizing that he will never start for Spain in a major tournament.

Jose Mourinho can’t stop ruining Iker Casillas’ life

Iker Casillas and Porto entered the final day of Champions League group stage play at the top of Group G, thanks in part to a win over Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea back in September. This was a meaningful victory for Casillas, not only because it provided valuable points, but because it gave him a taste of revenge against the man who callously destroyed his idyllic existence at Real Madrid. This moment of satisfaction would prove fleeting, however, as Mourinho ended up losing the battle but winning his endless war on Iker’s happiness.

Iker Casillas invites Jose Mourinho to a party after Porto beat Chelsea

Hey Jose,

Long time no talk! How about that match, eh? Losing to your old club in the Champions League must feel awful. And the way this season has been going for you must really have you feeling almost as bad as you made me feel when we were together at Real Madrid, the club I had been with nearly my whole life until you made them think I was worthless and they eventually shipped me out to Porto.
