Dog on the pitch delights crowd during Chilean match

Last weekend’s match between Cobresal and Colo Colo in the Chilean Primera Division featured an uninvited participated who once again proved that people always prefer to watch dogs run around than watch humans do anything.

With the score even at 1-1 during the first half, a dog decided that the pitch was a good place to sit down and relax. This halted the match while players and staff tried to chase the dog away, but this pup wasn’t having any of that. Instead, it ran the length of the pitch, evading lazy attempts at capturing it as the crowd gleefully shouted “ole!” each time.

Colo Colo went on to win 3-2, but that didn’t matter because the dog was the best part of the day.

Racing fans throw cheeseburger at Belgrano goalkeeper, who picks it up and eats it

Usually when rival fans throw objects at players, it’s potentially dangerous, but in one Argentina Primera Division match, it was delicious and/or gross. A disgruntled Racing supporter threw a cheeseburger in the direction of Belgrano goalkeeper Juan Olave during Sunday’s match between the two sides. But instead of complaining or tossing the meat missile aside, he picked it up and took a bite.

After the initial bite, Olave gestured as if to thank the crowd for the mid-game snack, then he took another bite before placing the mangled burger beside the goal post.

The match ended 0-0 and Olave is almost certainly dead from food poisoning right now.

Carlos Tevez returns to Boca Juniors, is happy he doesn’t have to speak English or Italian anymore

Carlos Tevez was unveiled before a huge crowd at La Bombonera as he made his return to his first club, Boca Juniors. In the 11 years since Tevez left he has played in Brazil, England, and Italy, and developed a reputation for an unwillingness to learn the local languages along the way (which resulted in him ignoring letters from the police). But now that Tevez is back to plying his trade in Argentina, he doesn’t have to worry about that anymore and he couldn’t be happier.

Paraguayan fans steal rival club’s trophies, throw them on the pitch

Paraguay’s two oldest clubs, Olimpia and Guarani, have developed a fierce rivalry over the years. So fierce that prior to their match on Sunday, Olimpia fans broke into Guarani’s trophy cabinet and stole their silverware.

After waving the trophies around, the fans then threw them onto the pitch, prompting a solitary man to collect them into a mess of twisted metal under his arm.

DTotD: Peruvian goalkeeper kicks referee in the back after getting booked

Some players don’t react well to being shown a yellow card and Union Perene’s goalkeeper is apparently one of them. After getting booked in a Copa Peru match, the keeper chased down the unsuspecting ref and kicked him square in the back.

Once the ref got back up, he sent off the keeper and presumably spent that evening picking his studs out of his back.

This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
