Neymar is building his brand in the U.S. instead of playing in Copa America

Instead of playing in Copa America Centenario in the U.S., Neymar will represent Brazil at the Olympics in Rio later this summer. While choosing the event being held on his nation’s home soil better serves Brazil’s national interests, one might think that it would prevent him from building his profile in the U.S. — the Copa America host nation. But not playing in the U.S. might actually be giving him a greater opportunity to increase his name recognition within the country than anything he could possibly do on the pitch.

Nike launches new home and away kits for U.S., England, France, Brazil, and more

Nike unveiled the new home and away kits for nine national teams at day two of their Innovation for Everybody event in New York City, including the first to carry the U.S.’s new crest.

Dunga blames virus for Brazil going out of Copa America on penalties against Paraguay…again

For the second straight Copa America, Brazil were eliminated by Paraguay with a woeful penalty shootout display. They had a lead from the 15th minute thanks to a Robinho (yes, that Robinho) goal, but Paraguay equalized from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute, sending the match to penalties. Brazil made their first spot kick, but flat out missed two of their next three.

Neymar, Carlos Bacca shown red cards after Colombia beat Brazil

Colombia beat Brazil for the first time since 1991, avenging last summer’s World Cup quarterfinal loss with a 36th minute goal from Jeison Murillo in Copa America Group C. But once the final whistle blew, the real fun began.

It started with Neymar kicking the ball at a celebrating Pablo Armero, then lightly headbutting goal scorer Murillo, prompting Colombia striker Carlos Bacca to come charging in and shove him from behind.

Uruguay mascot tries to sneak into Brazil U-20 team’s photo, gets pushed away

Brazil and Uruguay played a Sul-Americano U-20 match to a scoreless draw that ended with one of the Brazilian players proving that you can still cynically waste time even after getting sent off. But before the opening kick off brought all of that nonsense, the match was won by Uruguay’s mascot with the bold and ridiculous act of trying to sneak into Brazil’s team photo.
