Thai player scores gorgeous Olimpico goal, celebrates like Cristiano Ronaldo
Buriram United defender Theerathon Bunmathan scored his side’s first goal in their 2-1 AFC Champions League win against Gamba Osaka directly from a corner kick. If anything earns the right to mimic Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature goal celebration, it’s this. So Bunmathan followed his perfect goal with his celebratory tribute.
Future News: Man City surprised to learn that there are no rules against winning consecutive Premier League titles
Manchester City have admitted their surprise upon finding out that there was not a rule passed in 2011 prohibiting clubs from winning consecutive Premier League titles.
Tim Sherwood is throwing his outerwear again
Everyone’s favorite win percentage obsessive, Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood, played an updated version of one of his original hits during his side’s match against QPR when he threw his jacket in celebration of Christian Benteke’s first goal.
The visitors opened the scoring in just the seventh minute, but Benteke equalized in the 10th, prompting Sherwood to express his joy by being unable to wear his jacket for a second longer.
DTotD: Champions League hero Cosmin Moti kicks opponent in the kidney, gets away with it
You might remember Cosman Moti as the Romanian superhero/defender who replaced Ludogorets’ goalkeeper against Steaua Bucharest and made two penalty shootout saves after scoring one of his own to put his side in the Champions League group stage. But one CSKA Sofia player now knows him as the guy who made him pee blood.
Moti delivered a kung-fu kick to his opponent’s midsection as a means of keeping him away from an incoming ball that was nowhere near his foot. Incredibly, the referee didn’t punish Moti at all, perhaps knowing that he is a man with powers that must be feared.
Ludogorets went on to win 4-0, presumably with Moti scoring all four goals and earning the clean sheet.
This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
Chinese Super League player scores incredible overhead lob, follows it with bizarre celebration
Playing on what appears to be a beach, Liaoning Whowin striker James Chamanga scored with a wild lob over his own head that somehow came off perfectly. Regardless of whether this was intended to be a shot or not, it really should have been the sole focus of this video. But then the Zambian international celebrated his goal.
Chamanga struck an odd pose and one of his teammates came over and appeared to mime chopping him down as if he were a tree. But your guess is as good as mine.
The inner thoughts of Cristiano Ronaldo as he scored five goals in one match for the first time
Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals in a single match for the first time in his career to help Real Madrid to a 9-1 win against Granada. His first three all came within a span of just eight minutes and from there it only got better.
These are the inner thoughts of Cristiano Ronaldo as he enjoyed his most prolific day…
Celta Vigo player sent off for throwing grass at Sergio Busquets
With Barcelona up 1-0 late in their match against Celta Vigo, Sergio Busquets took his sweet time preparing to take a free kick. Celta’s Fabian Orellana did not appreciate what he perceived to be Busquets wasting time, so he picked up a chunk of the earth and threw it at him.
Hertha Berlin’s Thomas Kraft makes a save with his face
I love a good face save and this is a good face save. Hertha Berlin’s Thomas Kraft preserved his clean sheet in his side’s 2-0 win against Paderborn by saving a shot from close range with his nose. He even added in some jazz hands for added flair.
Kraft was able to laugh about the incident as he rubbed his stinging kisser. He was probably just thankful that he didn’t concede a 65-yard goal to Charlie Adam.
Tijuana’s Juan Arango gets away with biting opponent on the shoulder
Tijuana midfielder Juan Arango is best known for scoring magnificent goals, which he did again in his side’s 4-3 loss to Monterrey on Saturday. But it was his nibble on an opponent’s shoulder during the game that will change his reputation to that of a Luis Suarez wannabe.
Arango clearly took Jesus Zavala’s shirt between his teeth for reasons unknown, but it’s unclear if he actually pinched the skin. Regardless, Zavala fell to the ground and showed his shoulder to the referee in a scene reminiscent of what Giorgio Chiellini did after he was bit by Suarez at the World Cup.
