DTotD: Robert Huth gets his shirt pulled off his body, referee isn’t bothered

Some fans get upset when players decide to swap shirts at halftime, but I think it’s fair to say that an involuntary undressing during a match is far worse.

On a corner kick during a Leicester’s 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, Scott Dann pulled Robert Huth’s shirt clean off his body. And yet, the referee didn’t think there was any problem with it, despite the Leicester defender’s protests.

Robert Huth scores brace in Leicester win against Man City during season that is actually happening

Leicester beat Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad. Robert Huth had a brace. They are now five points clear at the top of the Premier League table with 53 points from 25 matches. This is real.

Leicester were in last place with 17 points from 24 matches on this day last year. In August, the odds on them winning the Premier League were 5000/1. Now they are 7/4 favorites. This is not a joke.

Their manager, Claudio Ranieri, has never won a first division title. Their top scorer, 29-year-old Jamie Vardy, who also leads the Premier League in goals, was playing non-league football four years ago. Their captain, 32-year-old Wes Morgan, is only playing his second season of top flight football. Rihad Mahrez, who scored against Man City and has been involved in more goals than any other Premier League player this season (14 goals, 10 assists) was bought for about £400,000 in January 2014. I’m serious.

Leicester City’s best ever finish in the top flight came in 1929 when they were runners-up. They have never appeared in the Champions League, which now seems certain to change next season as they are now 13 points clear of fifth-place Manchester United. You are not hallucinating this.

To repeat: Leicester beat Man City 3-1. Robert Huth has more goals than 2014/15 Player of the Year Eden Hazard this season. Leicester are in first place in the Premier League and favorites to win it. There is not a gas leak in your house, nor is it raining frogs outside.

Just to be absolutely clear: All of these words have been about Leicester City Football Club of Leicester, England in the United Kingdom on the planet Earth. The image at the top of this post has not been photoshopped. You are awake.

Jamie Vardy wears gold boots, scores in record 11th consecutive Premier League game

The stage was set for Jamie Vardy to make history in style. After scoring in 10 consecutive Premier League games, matching Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record, Vardy’s first-place Leicester City (which is a true fact in real life) happened to go up against Van Nistelrooy’s old club, second-place Man United.

Leicester City had a full blown clean-sheet pizza party

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri said he would fulfill his promise of pizza for all of his players after their first clean sheet of the season against Crystal Palace last weekend and he really wasn’t joking.

On Thursday, Leicester had a full-on pizza party at Peter Pizzeria, where they were able to make their own. And for dessert, they even had Nutella pizza.

Claudio Ranieri fulfills clean sheet pizza promise to his players

Leicester finally recorded their first clean sheet of the season and all it took was the supreme motivational power of pizza. Last month, Claudio Ranieri promised to buy pizza for all of his players if they achieved the feat and in their 10th match of the season, they finally did it, beating Crystal Palace 1-0 to put them three points behind first-place Man City.

Being a man of his word, Ranieri announced that he will fulfill his promise and even throw in some champagne for good measure. And for scorer Jamie Vardy, who now has goals in seven consecutive Premier League matches (giving him a league leading 10 for the season), there will be an added bonus.

Claudio Ranieri offers to buy pizza for his players if they keep a clean sheet

Leicester City are off to a surprising undefeated start, second only to Man City in the Premier League, thanks to new manager Claudio Ranieri. Though it’s difficult to find negatives about their five league matches of the season, one area where they could improve is defensively, having allowed seven goals — more than any other club in the top half of the table except for Norwich.

So to try and motivate his players to concede fewer goals, Ranieri has offered an incentive: free pizza.

Tim Sherwood does magic spell to make his two-goal lead disappear

With his side up 2-0 in the second half against undefeated Leicester City, Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood attempted some kind of magic spell on the touchline (his version of a tactical adjustment) to prevent the home side from making a comeback. Except it totally backfired and Leicester ended up winning 3-2 with a trio of unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes of play.
