Everything goes wrong for Chelsea in first half against West Ham

Look at that! That’s how close Chelsea were to an equalizer after West Ham opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Amazingly, things only got much, much worse for the struggling Premier League champions after this.

Cesc Fabregas then had a goal disallowed for being offside and Nemanja Matic was sent off after his second yellow just before halftime. In the frustration of all of this, Diego Costa and Fabregas were also shown yellows for dissent, while Jose Mourinho (who was already on a suspended one-match ban for his comments about the referee after Chelsea’s loss to Southampton  and assistant coach Silvino Louro were sent off.

Sky Sports News reports on Charlie Austin’s dick ligaments

QPR’s Charlie Austin is in the middle of an increasingly desperate search for a new club before the transfer window shuts despite finishing as the Premier League’s fourth highest scorer last season. And his pursuit has been dealt a blow by West Ham owner David Sullivan, who claimed that his club wouldn’t sign Austin in part because the striker “has no ligaments in his knee.”

A West Ham fan threw a mangled ear of corn on the pitch

West Ham held a 1-0 lead against Stoke from the seventh minute all the way until the fifth minute of added time, when Marko Arnautovic equalized to salvage a point at Upton Park. For one West Ham supporter, there was only one possible response to this type of frustration: throwing an ear of sweet corn, that may or may not have been partially eaten, onto the pitch.

Nemanja Matic injured himself while celebrating Chelsea’s cup win

Nemanja Matic wasn’t available for Chelsea’s 1-0 win at West Ham since he was finishing out his two-match ban for shoving the man who went unpunished after nearly snapped his leg in two. But after the game, Jose Mourinho revealed that he couldn’t have played even if he wasn’t suspended because he injured himself while celebrating Chelsea’s Capital One Cup final win on Sunday…a.k.a. the other match in which Matic did not play.
