The U.S.’s 2017 Gold Cup kit is an orgy of stars and stripes

It’s like the American flag drank too much and spewed patriotism all over a shirt

The U.S. debuted their Gold Cup kit during Saturday’s friendly against their regular World Cup foes Ghana and it’s definitely more unique than the the solid red kit they’ve been wearing recently. It’s as if Nike said, “Oh you think our kits are generic and boring? Well have a tsunami of stars and stripes.”

This kit is what you see when you get smacked in the face by a bald eagle. Some might say it has a lot of stars for a team that’s never earned any (the U.S. women’s team, of course, has definitely earned their stars), but, well, there they are.

Just to be clear, though: This is definitely an improvement on the red hand-me-down kit.
