Goalkeeper Jose Mourinho scores penalty in charity match

Jose Mourinho: Worse than Simon Mignolet in goal, better than Thibaut Courtois from the penalty spot

Though Jose Mourinho is well known as a brilliant manager and even better shit talker, his father was a professional goalkeeper. So perhaps it was in tribute to his recently departed dad that Jose put on the gloves for his appearance in a charity match benefiting victims of the Grenfell tragedy at Loftus Road.

Mourinho came off the bench in the 63rd minute to replace former England international David James in goal for Rio Ferdinand’s team and he seemed eager to leave his mark on the game. Maybe a bit too eager.

Mourinho conceded an equalizer in the 75th minute and gave his defenders an earful afterwards. He also put his 54-year-old body on the line for a few diving save attempts. In the penalty shootout that capped off the match, Mourinho did show off a bit of clinical finishing, though.

The next time Romelu Lukaku misses a penalty, he should expect to see this footage on repeat in the film room.
