Stuttgart fans console young player who conceded losing goal

There was joy for Burussia Dortmund on Friday as they notched their third consecutive win to go from the relegation zone to 10th in the Bundesliga table in that span, but as happy as they were, Stuttgart were equally miserable. The 3-2 loss dropped them to the very bottom of the table and to make matters worse, the decisive goal was scored when 18-year-old defender Timo Baumgartl’s backpass went terribly wrong in the 89th minute.

After the final whistle, the Stuttgart players went and spoke with the home fans, just as Dortmund had done when they hit their low a few weeks ago. Baumgartl was in tears over his costly error, but instead of unleashing hell on him, the fans consoled and embraced him.

On Saturday, a Conference North match between Worcester City and Stockport County devolved into backyard wrestling when former Pakistan international Shabir Khan body slammed Charlie Russell in response to a reckless challenge. Jose Mourinho’s Burnley numerology REVEALED!

“My assessment is simple. Four moments of the game: minute 30, minute 33, minute 43, and minute 69. If a person at home didn’t watch the game and wants to know what the game was, instead of being in front of the screen for 90 minutes, go just to those four moments — minutes 30, 33, 43, and 69 and you’ll know the story of the game.”

That’s all Jose Mourinho would say after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge. On the surface, it sounds like he’s pointing out the four moments where the referee failed to make calls that prevented Chelsea from winning and doing so in a way that might not earn him yet another fine from the FA. But there’s far more to it than that.

Serie A match postponed because Parma can’t pay anyone

(AP)
(AP)

With their THIRD OWNER THIS SEASON already missing debt payments, Parma have less than €40,000 in cash on hand. Antonio Cassano left the club in January since they haven’t paid players all season and the club’s vehicles (including the team bus) were repossessed from their training ground this week. So without the cash needed to pay stewards, their Serie A match against Udinese this weekend has been postponed.

Harry Redknapp thinks England should “give up” if they don’t win Euro 2016

Former QPR manager Harry Redknapp has decided that if England don’t win Euro 2016, they should just “give up.” The man who would’ve accepted the England job if it was offered to him made this proclamation on talkSPORT, but first he was asked about the last World Cup.

“I don’t know if I could have done any better,” Redknapp said of England’s winless, bottom of the group showing in Brazil. “But I couldn’t have done any worse.”

With that established, Harry was asked to look ahead. And he started out with a reasonable statement, though.
