First, Barcelona had to go and disrupt the storyline of “Barca are over (for real this time!)” by beating Atletico 3-1 with goals from Neymar, Lionel Messi AND Luis Suarez. Then, after the match, Messi ruined the most pervasive story of the January transfer window by going on Barca TV and stating unequivocally that everything printed about him simultaneously trying to leave the club and run it as an iron-fisted dictator is total bullshit.

Roberto Mancini knocked down by errant ball to the face kicked by his own captain
Back with Inter, Roberto Mancini is in the process of building what could be a formidable squad, but before they beat Genoa 3-1 on Sunday, they turned on their creator. Early in the game, Inter captain Marco Andreolli flicked a clearance that smashed Mancini in the face, sending the former Man City manager to the ground.
Francesco Totti scores record-breaking derby goal, takes selfie with his phone
Francesco Totti is a 38-year-old man, but for a few moments during Sunday’s Rome derby, he was a teenager again. The Roma captain scored twice in the second half to come back from a 2-0 deficit against Lazio and his 64th-minute equalizer was a stunner of a flying karate kick volley at the far post. He then celebrated by taking a selfie with his own phone in front of the Roma fans of the Curva Sud.
Manuel Neuer is apparently omnipotent in FIFA 15
Manuel Neuer has made it his mission to prove to the world that he can do whatever he pleases on the pitch, but as good as he is in real life, he seems to be on another level in FIFA 15.
Traveling sketchbook beautifully depicts some of Cristiano Ronaldo’s greatest moments
By now you must be familiar with the brilliant and unique work of Richard Swarbrick (see his 2014 World Cup highlights here). This latest video, however, adds another dimension to his beautifully minimalistic animations — the real world.
Recapping some of Cristiano Ronaldo’s career highlights on a sketchbook moving through the streets of Manchester and Madrid — the cities where he has played the majority of his career — the video serves as a reminder of why he’s already won two Ballon d’Or awards and might be on the verge of his third.
Enjoy.
Heerenveen abandon friendly after comically dubious series of penalties
Standard Liege and Heerenveen played a friendly in Spain on Friday that came to an abrupt and premature conclusion when the Dutch side walked off after one too many curious decisions from the referee.
Frustrations came to a boil as the ref awarded three penalties (two to Standard Liege and one to Heerenveen, which was saved), but it was the fourth for a phantom offense that pushed Heerenveen to the brink. But when the penalty was saved and the ref called for it to be retaken, they decided they had had enough and walked off the pitch, shaking hand with the Standard Liege players as they went.
Again, this was only a friendly, but it was also the most egregious example of match fixing in recent memory or maybe a Spanish official’s desperate attempt to impress his family in the stands. Either way, there are plenty of better things to do in Spain to wrap up the winter break than whatever this was.

Andy Carroll needs protection from himself
Andy Carroll is a menace to one man and one man only: Andy Carroll. His career has been plagued by injuries — including a fall off a bar stool in 2011. But now he’s hurting himself with increased regularity.
DT Exclusive: Frank Lampard’s signed agreement to join NYCFC

It has been revealed that Frank Lampard never actually signed a contract with New York City FC last summer, has been playing with Man City not as part of a short-term loan, but just a regular contract, and that everyone is a liar. But now the former Chelsea midfielder has reportedly signed “a deal” to finally join NYCFC on July 1. DT has exclusively obtained a copy of that deal and we share it with you here…
These Star Wars themed football kits are spectacular
Barcelona based designer Nerea Palacios recently undertook a project in her ongoing quest to work for Nike and it is nothing short of genius. I would write a full introduction to her Star Wars concept kits, but that would just delay you from seeing the designs. So look! Look!
